From the Victoria and Albert Museum comes this incredible retrospective of the career of David Bowie. More than 300 objects, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs, Bowie’s own instruments and album artwork. All this, makes you go back in time -if you were alive and at least a child during Bowie’s early productions- and vividly transmit the charming and unsetting power of this extraordinary artist and performer. The structure of the exhibition is extremely interesting and allows you to approach objects, voices, music and looks as if Bowie himself were simply walking beside you, or as if you were in the middle of a live concert. Using the headphones connects you directly with Bowie’s original voice and his unforgettable music. The title ‘DAVID BOWIE is‘ correctly refers to nowadays Bowie’s presence in the performing arts field, but also in fashion, movies, design and many other aspects of contemporary culture.
The selection and collection was curated by Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh. The exhibition will be on until October 15th in the Museu del Disseny in Barcelona. (n.z.b.)
